Welcome to the first in a new weekly series providing you with all the highlights from the world of fashion.
First of all, we need to talk about Glasto. From Win Butler’s (Arcade Fire) robber-esque ensemble to Lily Allen’s pink hair to Dolly Parton’s bedazzling suit, festival-goers were treated to some fashion extremes from the performers. Although, we wouldn’t have expected anything less from Dolly, who, in response to claims she was miming during her set at the festival, told The Sun, “My boob’s are fake, my hair’s fake but what is real is my voice and my heart.” Go Dolly!
Paris Men’s Spring/Summer 2015 collections were brought to a close at the weekend by Lanvin, who showcased what appeared to be a tribute to the late Joe Strummer as models strutted down the catwalk, with quiffed hair and facial piercings galore, in leather jackets with the sleeves rolled up, neck ties and with chains hanging from their trousers. The collection was in keeping with that of many others also showcasing similar punk and rock’n’roll influenced trends, with leopard print tailored jackets, a la Keith Richards, at Comme des Garçons and fringed jackets and embellished waistcoats at the psychedelic-desert-road-trip masterpiece that was Saint Laurent’s S/S15 collection. Slimane wins again.
Marc Jacobs revealed the first images from his new Instagram-cast campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs, photographed by David Sims. The stars of the campaign are the lucky nine winners of the #CastMeMarc campaign, which was launched via Twitter and Instagram in April and attracted around 70,000 entries. This is the first Autumn/Winter campaign from Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley since they joined Marc by Marc Jacobs and the photos are, as expected, cool, youthful and fresh. You can check out the full campaign in the August issue of Teen Vogue.
Finally model, reality star and all-round style icon, Olivia Palermo married her long-term model boyfriend Johannes Huebl in New York on Sunday. In true Palermo style, she decided to opt against a traditional wedding gown and instead went for an understated three-piece outfit: a mint cashmere jumper and white shorts covered by a tulle skirt, along with those Manolo Blahnik court heels Carrie Bradshaw wore for her civil ceremony in the Sex and the City movie.
Look of the Week
Keira Knightley attended the after party for the New York premiere of her new film, Begin Again, in a shimmering brocade dress from Erdem’s Fall 2014 collection and looked amazing. Her tousled curls and smoky green eyeshadow bring a mystical vibe to this look and give it that bit of edginess it needs.
